I am working with Ryan Null to elucidate scale development and structural colouration in lepidoptera, an order (classification) of insects, often known for its colourful wings, that includes butterflies and moths. My project goal is to test the viability of using a prolific moth species (Galleria mellonella) as a novel model insect. Some of my current work includes dissecting the pupae to extract their developing wings, staining and imaging the wings with flouresence microscopy, and doing ex-vivo growth of the wings.
After graduation, I plan to return to Singapore to gain research experience at A*STAR
and then work towards a PhD in the neurosciences.
