Another successful summer of Woods Hole Arthropod Embryology completed. Now begins summer camp science withdrawal.

Arthropod crew 2016, left-to-right, bottom: Rachel Thayer (her 1st year–she absolutely rocked it, and completed like half her thesis–yeah, she’s that amazing), Erin Jarvis (4th summer!), Nipam (our fearless leader), Taryn Sumabat (from the Hariharan lab–we didn’t scare her away!). Tall ones in the back: Jacques Bothma (stolen from Physio, good choice, Jacques) and Matt Ronshaugen (who is always sorely missed when he has to return to Manchester)
Go team Arthropod!
- Jackpot! The fuel of late-night lab sessions.
- This just works.
- The plaque is cooler than the medal.
- Darwin’s tree! First edition copy. Sent to a friend by Darwin himself. So, I touched something that Darwin touched. I might never wash my hands again. Not that I’m obsessed with old dead guys or anything.
- Pasted in after the fact.
- Nobel prizes are surprisingly heavy.
- This is what happens after the rest of Nipam’s crew goes home.
- Nipam & Taryn at the new fancy restaurant (3rd Arthropod dinner–minus Matt & Jacques)
- Rachel observes Neil Shubin’s Tiktaalik
- Lunch at Swope
- Rachel, hiding (Nipam, John Henry, Mike Abrams, & Alejandro)
- Can’t tell what it is without the snout!
